Slack

Post new hand-offs, support emails and actions to approve in a Slack channel as they arrive.

Slack is on Growth and Scale, and an admin connects it.

Connect it

  1. In Slack, add the Incoming Webhooks app to the channel you want, and copy its webhook URL. It starts with https://hooks.slack.com/services/.
  2. On the Integrations page, under Slack, paste it into Webhook URL.
  3. Press Connect and send a test message.

The test message must reach Slack before the webhook is kept. Once kept, it is never shown again. Your team email, if you have one, is told that Slack was connected, by whom, and to which workspace.

What is posted

Each of these is posted once, alongside the email notices:

  • a website visitor asking for a person, marked as signed in on your site or not verified;
  • a support email, saying whether a suggested reply is ready or it needs an answer from you;
  • an account action to approve (on Scale).

Only what arrives after you connect is posted. Up to 20 go out a minute; a burst waits for the next minute.

Who connected it

The Integrations page shows who connected Slack and to which workspace. If that isn't your team's workspace, press Disconnect. Slack is also disconnected when the person who connected it leaves your team.

If Slack stops taking messages

If Slack says the webhook no longer works (for example, the channel was archived), the page shows Slack stopped taking messages, and nothing more is posted. Paste a working webhook URL to start again. Your email notices carry on either way.

On Starter, nothing is posted to Slack.
