Sending from your own address

Have replies come from your support address itself, instead of your company name on our address.

This is on Growth and Scale, and only admins set it up.

Until it is set up, replies come from your company name on Swaru's own address, with your support address as the Reply-To, so answers still come back to you.

What you need

  • Your checked support address, on a domain you own, such as support@yourcompany.com (see Forwarding your support email). A mailbox provider's domain, such as gmail.com or outlook.com, can't be used.
  • Access to the DNS settings for that domain.

One domain can belong to one company here.

Steps

  1. On the Email page, under Send replies from your own address, press Send replies from your support address.
  2. The page shows two DNS records: a TXT record and a CNAME record. Add both at whoever runs DNS for your domain, exactly as shown.
  3. Press Check DNS. DNS changes can take a few hours to show, so check again later if a record still says "not yet".
  4. When the TXT record is verified, the section says On, and replies go out from your support address.

The TXT record (DKIM) is the one that decides. The CNAME record is advised: it lines up bounces and DMARC with your domain.

Afterwards

Swaru checks your domain with our email provider, Postmark, every day. If the check hasn't succeeded for 8 days, or Postmark stops accepting your address, replies go back to coming from our address. Press Check DNS to put it right.

Stop sending from it turns it off.

If DNS won't verify, see Troubleshooting.
