Changing the chat's words, look and rules
Set what the chat says, how it looks, and the tone it takes.
Admins change these on the Chat page under Words, look and rules, then press Save. Changes are live as soon as they are saved.
Words
- Launcher label: the name of the chat's round button, such as "Ask Example". Screen readers read it, and it shows when someone points at the button. Without one it is "Open support".
- Panel title, and Panel promise: one sentence under the title.
- Question placeholder: the hint in the empty question box.
- Welcome and Welcome line: the words a visitor sees in an empty chat, above your suggested questions. Without them, "How can we help?" and "Ask a question. We will look in the documentation."
- Suggested questions: up to 6, one per line. A visitor can pick one instead of typing.
- Privacy page and Contact page: https links. The contact page is where a click goes if the chat cannot load.
The chat's other buttons and messages are in English. Its answers are written in the visitor's own language.
Look
Brand colour is a hex colour such as #3159b7, the colour a new company starts with. The chat uses it for its button, the send button and the avatar, and mixes the darker shade for links and the light tints from it. The chat itself stays light, whatever the colours of your page.
Tone and rules
Tone and rules is plain words to the assistant: the tone to take, and words to use or avoid. Keep it under 2,000 characters.
It never overrides the chat's own rules. Whatever you write, the chat:
- answers only from your docs, and links only into them;
- hands a question to your team when your docs don't answer it;
- hands it over too when it is about the customer's own account, payment or order, asks for a date, a promise or an exception, or reports a security problem.
Your company name
Company name appears in the emails Swaru sends for you, such as the replies your team sends from the inbox. It cannot contain a web or email address.
